Melissa Billington was introduced to yoga while still in the womb. At age 6 she spent time at Kripalu Ashram & at 16 she began practicing Kundalini Yoga. After leaving the US in 1999 to roam India, she returned to Kripalu for her 200 hour teacher training. She also holds certifications in Pregnancy Yoga (2003), Radiant Child (2009), & Forrest Yoga Advanced TT (2016). She has been registered with the Yoga Alliance since 2004 & is an ERYT, Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher with a minimum of 1,000 hours “in the field” (closer to 9,000!). She formulated & led a Yoga Alliance-certified 200 hour teacher training, taught on TVNZ’s Good Morning Show, & also in a local women’s prison. In 2014, she took a sabbatical from yoga teaching & was given her first Ojibway prayer song for water. For the next 4 years she wandered the world on a walkabout for meaning in a sea of dissolution, yet increasingly focused on water everywhere she went. Melissa is now intent on taking the unity consciousness off the yoga mat and out into relationship with the wider community, especially the innocent and unprotected–the women, children, animals, water and trees.
